Jofra Archer: News
A classic case of how one country's loss became another country's gain, England cricketer Jofra Archer is one of the most exciting fast bowling allrounders in the world. Born in Barbados, Archer began his career on the Caribbean island. He even represented West Indies in the U-19 stage. However, a back injury forced him down the pecking order in the Barbadian crop of young talents. Archer, an English citizen through his father, then moved to England in 2015. Chris Jordan, a fellow Barbadian, informed his county club Sussex about Archer's outrageous potential, and in 2016, he made his first-class debut for Sussex. It was in the 2017-18 season of BBL that Archer showed his true potential. Genuine pace and clean hitting down the order made Archer a scary prospect for any opposition team. A change in ECB's residence rules allowed him to make his international debut for England in an ODI match in 2019. He was also part of England's 2019 World Cup-winning team. ICC later included him in the CWC 2019 Team of the Tournament. Archer made his IPL debut in 2018 for Rajasthan Royals. In the 2020 IPL edition, he was the MVP of the tournament.
